This Woundcare Management Training course is specifically designed for nurses involved in caring for patients and service users with chronic and acute wounds. By the end of this course each attendee will have a greater appreciation of wound types and the appropriate techniques to manage them effectively.
Info & Booking EnquiryA wound is a disruption of the normal structure and function of skin and skin architecture. An acute wound has normal wound physiology and healing is anticipated to progress through the normal stages of wound healing, whereas a chronic wound is defined as one that is physiologically impaired.
Proper healing and wound care management is imperative as the wound bed needs to be well vascularised, free of devitalised tissue, moist and clear of infection. Correct wound dressings should eliminate dead space, control exudate, prevent bacterial overgrowth, ensure proper fluid balance, be cost-efficient, and be manageable for the patient and/or nursing staff.
