Who should attend Pat Down Search Training?
This Pat Down Search Training is essential for anyone working within a supportive role who may have to physically search an individual in their care. The course is designed for staff working within adult healthcare environments.
This course is delivered onsite for groups of up to 12 learners.
Organisations should provide a safe therapeutic environment to reduce the risk of injury to individuals in their care, staff and visitors. This will help prevent untoward incidents caused by any use of illicit substances/alcohol or dangerous items. This is achieved through staff training and those staff having access to clear guidance and support in instances where action needs to be taken due to suspected or actual possession of dangerous items and/or harmful substances.
This course is designed to incorporate and enhance your policies and procedures. The searching of a person or their property should only be carried out in where there is cause for concern or an identified need requires it. Searches may be essential and have to be a justifiable component for safe practice.
Organisations should have an operational policy on searching individuals in their care if they are detained under the Mental Health Act.
